International Focus
At Word of Life Church we are involved in many nations around the world, but right now the Holy Spirit has led us to concentrate our efforts in four nations.
MEXICO
Over the past twenty years Word of Life Church has supported many missionaries in Mexico. Pastor Zahnd has personally traveled to and ministered in Mexico some twenty-two times. By far our most significant involvement is with Mike Jones and the church he founded and pastors, Agua Viva (Living Water) in Tampico. Mike is one of the original elders of Word of Life Church and has been working in Mexico since 1985. Agua Viva now has over 1,500 in attendance on Sunday mornings and they are currently constructing a 2,700 seat sanctuary.
HONDURAS
In 1998 Word of Life Church coordinated and administrated the distribution of over two million dollars worth of relief aid and medicines for the victims of Hurricane Mitch in the Central American nation of Honduras. The purchase of an 8,000 seat tent led to a relationship between Word of Life and La Cosecha (The Harvest) in San Pedro Sula. Under the ministry of Pastor Misael Argeñal, La Cosecha has become the largest church in Central America, with nearly 30,000 in attendance on Sundays. They are currently constructing a 20,000 seat auditorium. In the past six years, we have taken seven ministry teams to assist the work of La Cosecha. In October of 2002 Pastor Zahnd conducted an evangelistic crusade with Pastor Argeñal.
RUSSIA
One of Pastor Zahnd's closest friends in the world is Igor (Nikki) Nikitin. Nikki is the president of the Association of Christian Churches in Russia (ACCR), a union of over 500 Spirit filled churches in Russia. For the past four years Pastor Zahnd has conducted their annual week-long pastors conference (paid for by Word of Life Church). In August of 2002, Pastor Zahnd and Peri returned to Russia to conduct their fifth pastors conference for ACCR. We also work very closely with Pastor Demetri (Paul) Poliakoff and the Union of Christians Church in St. Petersburg. Word of Life Church pays the rent on the historic theater where the church holds their services. We have also led several ministry teams to Russia.
INDIA
The nation we have been the most involved with is India. We are currently working with three ministries in India. In Tamil Nadu (South India) we have worked for many years with Ebenezer John and Spirit of Life Ministries. In North India we are working with two ministries. In Kurukshetra, Haryana we work with the former Hindu guru, K.D. Bhutt who is the pastor of Temple of Christ Fellowship. We are also working with P.G. Vargis and Indian Evangelical Team (IET). IET now has over 3,700 churches in North India with a goal of 7,777 churches by 2010. Over the next few years Word of Life Church will be investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in bringing the gospel to the one billion people of India.At Word of Life Church we are doing more than just influencing our region, we are also touching the world, because the nations belong to Jesus!
