Weddings at Word of Life Church

We place a high value on the covenant of marriage, and want your marriage to be strong and a source of great blessing. We are committed to do all we can BEFORE the marriage takes place. It is our desire that you be adequately prepared for this big step in life. We believe the marriage covenant is not something to be entered into lightly, and have carefully prepared this policy with these things in mind.

Your wedding is a sacred celebration. Your plans for the service should reflect that fact and also align with the beliefs and worship practices of Word of Life Church. Careful planning will ensure that your wedding is meaningful to you, your family, and friends.
The Ceremony
Word of Life Church has a few locations suitable for wedding ceremonies. The largest is our Main Worship Auditorium, which seats up to 2,600 people. Seating in the Main Auditorium is traditional pews.
Our Millennium Youth Center is the room that most people select for their wedding. Seating in this room can be configured in a variety of styles and has the most options for decorating. The Millennium Youth Center will seat approximately 600 people.
The Life Center is ideal for small weddings. The seating capacity for the Life Center is 120 people.
Wedding Guidelines
- The pastoral staff of Word of Life Church performs weddings as a ministry, not as a civil service. The couple getting married is responsible to God for their decision to be married. The pastor is responsible to God that the marriage does not violate Scripture or his conscience.
- Couples interested in being married are required to successfully complete six sessions of the marriage small group offered by the church. This small group will be offered at least three times a year. The group will involve discussion and study in and outside of class. Couples are expected to complete the course material as a process of this class. A $30 materials fee is due at the first class session.
- In order to give active Word of Life Church members preference, they can set their wedding date up to one year in advance. Non-members can set their date six month in advance.
- Each couple will have at least one premarital meeting with the pastor that is marrying them. Additional meetings may be scheduled at the pastor's discretion. The couple is expected to attend two meetings with the Church Coordinator, an initial meeting when the wedding is scheduled and a final meeting on the Monday before the wedding.
- Weddings are not scheduled for Sundays or Fridays. Time and day of wedding rehearsal will be determined by the Church Coordinator and the couple. The couple's Marriage License must be in the Word of Life Church office by the evening rehearsal.
- Photographs and videos are allowed. Securing a photographer or video company is the responsibility of the couple.
- Securing musicians and singers is the responsibility of the couple. Word of Life Church musicians are subject to their availability and an honorarium. Musicians from outside of our church are required to bring their own instruments and equipment, and must coordinate their activities with our sound technician through the Church Coordinator. All music used in the wedding is subject to prior coordinator approval.
- Alcohol is not permitted or allowed to be served on the premises of Word of Life Church.
- A wedding fee will be paid by each wedding party using our facility. The Church Coordinator, Cheyenne Lynch, 816-233-6367 x182, will discuss facility and clean-up requirements with the couple, as well as work with the couple to determine access needs to the building prior to the ceremony. The Church Coordinator will be present as a church resource at the wedding.
